Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s Urvil Patel stood tall for Gujarat on Day 4 of their Ranji Trophy 2025 match against Bengal at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 28. The wicketkeeper-batter slammed a 96-ball century during a 327-run chase. With the knock, he also recovered the visiting team from 50/3.
Urvil has been impressive with the bat in his limited outing for Gujarat in first-class cricket. He has amassed 458 runs in 11 matches (17 innings) with a best score of 140, which he achieved against Saurashtra in February of this year.
Urvil has been equally impressive in T20s. The Mehsana-born cricketer holds the record for the fastest T20 ton by an Indian, achieving the landmark in just 28 balls against Tripura in 2024. He followed that up with a 36-ball century against Uttarakhand in the same year.
Fans on X lauded the CSK batter for his exploits with the bat heading into the next season of IPL. One user wrote:
"Urvil Patel's century against Bengal chasing 327. - A century in just 96 balls against Shami, Akashdeep, and Ishan Porel at Eden Gardens, one of the most remarkable innings ever."
Another user commented:
"Century for Urvil Patel at 105 strike rate against one of the best bowling attacks in the Ranji trophy."
A third user added:
"I always believed this guy nothing less than Dewald Brevis in terms of hitting capability."

How did Urvil Patel perform for CSK in IPL 2025?
Urvil Patel was picked mid-season as a replacement player by CSK during IPL 2025. The swashbuckling batter made his debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), treating the fans with a quickfire 31 off 11 deliveries, comprising four sixes and a boundary. The 27-year-old, however, perished for a duck against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the next match. He then scored 37 off 19 balls, including two sixes and four boundaries, against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
Overall, he has amassed 1230 runs in 50 T20s at a stunning strike rate of 172..26 with the help of two tons and four half-centuries.
After a poor 2025 season, Urvil Patel would be keen to help redeem five-time IPL champions CSK in the 2026 edition of the tournament.
