The Mumbai Indians (MI) have retained a total of nine players ahead of IPL 2026 auction. The event will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
The franchise parted ways with the likes of Satyanarayana Raju, Reece Topley, KL Shrijith, Karn Sharma, Bevon Jacobs, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Lizaad Williams and Vignesh Puthur.
The five-time champions were part of multiple trades prior to the IPL 2026 retentions deadline. Mumbai traded Indian bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for ₹2 crore in an all-cash deal.
They also roped in West Indies' Sherfane Rutherford in an all-cash deal from the Gujarat Titans (GT) at ₹2.6 crore. The other players they signed during the trade window include Indian leg spinner Mayank Markande, trading him from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at ₹30 lakh.
They were involved in a transfer with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), as well as Indian bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar moved to the Lucknow-based franchise for ₹30 lakh.
It is worth noting that Mumbai go into the IPL 2026 auction with five slots remaining, including one for overseas players.
