India seamer Arshdeep Singh delivered a crucial breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Marco Jansen cheaply in the second ODI against South Africa. The match is being played on Wednesday, December 3, at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.

The wicket came on the third ball of the 45th over of the Proteas’ innings. Arshdeep bowled a full delivery on middle, and Jansen attempted to hit it straight down the ground. However, he mistimed the shot and ended up offering a straightforward catch to long-off, where Ruturaj Gaikwad completed it safely.

The right-hander fell for a run-a-ball two, leaving the visitors at 322/6 after 44.3 overs.

Asked to bat first, India posted 358/5 in their 50 overs, powered by hundreds from Virat Kohli (102) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (105), while skipper KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 66 off 43 balls.

In response, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Quinton de Kock for eight in the fifth over. Aiden Markram, along with skipper Temba Bavuma, then added 101 runs off 96 balls for the second wicket. Bavuma scored 46 off 48 balls, while Markram brought up a century, eventually making 110 off 98 deliveries with 10 fours and four sixes.

Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis followed with a 92-run stand off just 63 balls for the fourth wicket. Brevis struck 54 off 34 balls with one four and five sixes. Breetzke reached his sixth ODI fifty and went on to score 68 off 64 balls before Prasidh Krishna removed him in the 44th over, leaving the Proteas at 317/5. In the next over, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Marco Jansen, resulting in two wickets falling in quick succession.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 332/6 after 45 overs, still needing 27 runs to win, with Tony de Zorzi (17) and Corbin Bosch (10) at the crease.
