The dismissal occurred on the first ball of the 152nd over of South Africa’s first innings. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a googly outside off, and Jansen attempted to guide it past slip. However, he only managed a bottom edge, and the ball deflected onto the stumps, leaving the right-hander visibly disappointed.

Kuldeep Yadav picks four, yet South Africa put up a commanding 489 in the 2nd Test

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bat first, with the visitors ending Day 1 at 247/6 after 81.5 overs. Senuran Muthusamy (25) and Kyle Verreynne (1) were unbeaten at stumps, while Kuldeep Yadav stood out for India with three wickets.

On Day 2, Muthusamy and Verreynne continued to frustrate the hosts, as the Proteas went through the entire morning session without losing a wicket, reaching 316/6 after 111 overs by tea. In the post-tea session, Ravindra Jadeja finally delivered India’s first breakthrough of the day by ending the 88-run stand and dismissing Verreynne for a hard-fought 45 off 122 balls.

Marco Jansen then joined Muthusamy, and the pair shifted the momentum by scoring freely. Muthusamy completed his maiden Test century, and together they added an impressive 97 runs off just 106 balls for the eighth wicket. Muthusamy eventually fell for a well-made 109 off 206 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and two sixes.

Jansen, meanwhile, reached his half-century and continued to take on the Indian bowlers. However, he narrowly missed out on his maiden Test hundred, falling for 93 off 91 balls. South Africa were eventually bowled out for 489 in 151.1 overs. For India, Kuldeep Yadav claimed four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj picked up two apiece.
