The much-awaited T20 World Cup 2026 schedule was announced on Tuesday, November 25. The ICC tournament will include 20 teams and will be played from February 7 to March 8. The mega event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The renowned MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai has been finalized as one of the venues for the tournament and will host seven matches.
The first match of T20 World Cup 2026 to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be a Group D clash between New Zealand and Afghanistan on February 8. The Kiwis will then face the United Arab Emirates on February 10. Also, the United States of America will take on Netherlands in a Group A match on February 13. USA will also face Namibia on February 15.
Two more Group D matches of T20 World Cup 2026 will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. New Zealand will face Canada on February 17, while Afghanistan will take on Canada on February 19. Chepauk will also host a Super 8 Group 1 match (X1 vs X2) on February 26.

T20 World Cup 2026: Seedings for Super Eights
The 20 teams featuring in T20 World Cup 2026 have been divided into four groups of five each. After 40 matches in the group stage, the top two sides from each group will qualify for the Super Eights, which gets underway on February 21. The top four teams from the Super Eights will then qualify for the knockouts.
The seedings for Super Eights are as follows - India (X1), Australia (X2), West Indies (X3), South Africa (X4), England (Y1), New Zealand (Y2), Pakistan (Y3) and Sri Lanka (Y4). Any other team that qualifies from a group instead of a pre-seeded side will replace it in the Super Eights.
