Kuldeep Yadav ended Tristan Stubbs’ handy knock by dismissing him caught behind on Day 1 of the second Test between India and South Africa on Saturday, November 22. The left-arm wrist-spinner induced a thick outside towards KL Rahul at first slip to dismiss Stubbs for 49 off 112 deliveries, which comprised two sixes and as many fours. With the scalp, he reduced the Proteas to 187/4.

The dismissal came in the 64th over of South Africa’s first innings. Kuldeep began the over with a tossed up delivery outside off that kept straight after pitching as Stubbs looked to defend it, failing his control over the ball. Meanwhile, Rahul made amends after dropping Aiden Markram in the first session.

It was Kuldeep Yadav’s second of the innings, having dismissed opening batter Ryan Rickelton for 35 after the tea break.

Kuldeep Yadav helps India strike twice after Ravindra Jadeja provides a crucial breakthrough

Kuldeep Yadav took his second wicket soon after Ravindra Jadeja broke the 84-run stand between Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma. The latter departed for 41 off 92 balls. Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah knocked over Aiden Markram for 38 to provide the first breakthrough for the Men in Blue.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 196/4, with Tony de Zorzi and Wiaan Mulder at the crease.

The hosts will look to bounce back in the second Test after losing the opening game by 30 runs in Kolkata, where Simon Harmer spun a web for Indian players, taking eight wickets in the game. They will also try to ensure they don’t miss their second Test series at home under Gautam Gambhir's coaching after a 0-3 whitewash by New Zealand last year.

The Men in Blue are without regular skipper Shubman Gill (neck stiffness). Rishabh Pant is serving as the captain for the second Test.

On the other hand, the Proteas will be keen to register their first Test series win on Indian soil since the 1999/2000 series. They recently drew a two-match series 1-1 in Pakistan.
