South Africa ace spinner Keshav Maharaj took the prized scalp of KL Rahul on Day 3 of the second Test against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Monday, November 24. With the dismissal, Maharaj broke the 65-run opening partnership between Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The right-handed batter departed for 22 runs off 63 deliveries.
The dismissal came in the 22nd over of the hosts’ first innings. Maharaj bowled a fuller-length ball outside off. It was a slower delivery that spun away with extra bounce on offer. Rahul lunged forward in defence to go off the shoulder of the blade but ended up getting an outside edge. Aiden Markram took a good low catch at first slip.

Earlier on Day 2, the Proteas were bundled out for 489 in 151.1 overs. Senuran Muthusamy starred with the bat, scoring 109 runs off 206 deliveries, including two sixes and 10 boundaries. Marco Jansen missed out on a well-deserved century, scoring 93 off 91 balls, hitting seven maximums and six boundaries. South Africa are 1-0 ahead in the two-match Test series. They won the series opener by 30 runs in Kolkata and are hoping to win their first-ever Test series in India since the 1999/2000 series.
On the other hand, India will be eager to bounce back and level the series 1-1. The Men in Blue will also look to avoid another Test series defeat at home after a 0-3 clean sweep by New Zealand last year.
