Team India batter Jemimah Rodrigues etched her name in the history books with a splendid century in the semi-final of the ICC Women's World Cup against Australia on Thursday, October 30. She remained unbeaten on 127 off 134 balls, playing a pivotal role in India chasing a mammoth 339-run target in 48.3 overs.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side beat defending champions Australia by five wickets at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, to book a place in the final. Jemimah played a clutch knock in the high-pressure fixture, batting till the end to ensure India crossed the finish line.

The 25-year-old's knock was laced with 14 fours. Notably, this was the first instance of a 300-plus target being chased in an ODI World Cup knockout match. This is also the highest successful run chase in the history of women's ODIs.

After electing to bat first, Australia were bowled out for 338 in 49.5 overs. Opener Phoebe Litchfield scored 119 runs off 93 balls, while Ellyse Perry contributed 77 runs from 88 deliveries.

Ashleigh Gardner also hit an impactful half-century, amassing 63 runs in 45 balls. Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani claimed two wickets each for the hosts.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues gave India hope in the run chase with a 167-run stand from 156 balls for the third wicket. Harmanpreet missed out on a well-deserved century, falling after an 89-run knock from 88 deliveries.

India will now face South Africa in the Women's World Cup 2025 final. The summit clash will take place at the same venue on Sunday, November 2.
