An Indian journalist hilariously teased Suryakumar Yadav after the Men in Blue beat Australia 2-1 in the five-match T20I series. The mediaperson quipped, 'finally, trophy mil gayi' (finally you got the trophy). The joke was made in reference to the fact that India are yet to receive the Asia Cup 2025 trophy despite having won it.

India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai on September 28. Chasing a target of 147, they got home in 19.4 overs as Tilak Varma hammered an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls. India, however, had to celebrate without the trophy even after winning the tournament.

At a press conference on Saturday, November 8, following the conclusion of the Australia vs India T20I series, a journalist made an indirect reference to the incident and told Suryakumar:

"Finally trophy mil gayi."

To this, the India captain replied:

"Acha lag raha hai dekh ke." (Feels good)

He also took the opportunity to praise the India Women's team, who recently won the ODI World Cup, and added:

"I just held the trophy after it was presented to me, but recently the women's team won the World Cup in India. That trophy has also come home. Feels good about that and about this trophy as well."

India won the five-match T20I series against Australia 2-1 after the final match at The Gabba in Brisbane was abandoned due to rain. Only 4.5 overs were possible in the contest in which India scored 52-0 after being asked to bat.

"Very important series in the lead up to the T20 World Cup" - Suryakumar Yadav on Australia tour

"It was a very important series in the lead up to the T20 World Cup. We are playing about 15 T20Is ahead of the World Cup. It is a good challenge playing against Australia in Australia for the players."

The Indian skipper also shed light on the management's decision to experiment during the series and elaborated:

"One or two new players played, but you can try them in bilaterals to see where they can fit in. A lot of bowler also bowled out of position. In the last game, Washi [Sundar] bowled the 17th over. The takeaways were positive in all departments."

Young Team India opener Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Series for scoring 163 runs in five innings at an average of 40.75 and a strike rate of 161.39.
