Former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock advised Team India to resist the temptation to bring wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson back into the lineup for the third T20I against South Africa. The Men in Blue suffered a massive 51-run defeat in the second T20I in New Chandigarh, leaving the five-match series level at 1-1.Shubman Gill continued his dismal T20I form at the top, scoring a golden duck, following his two-ball four in the series opener. Lest we forget, the right-hander replaced Samson at the top of the order in T20Is since the start of the Asia Cup a few months back. While Samson batted down the order in the next few matches, Jitesh Sharma has replaced him as the wicketkeeper in India's last five outings.Talking about whether India should bring back Samson for the third T20I, Pollock said on Cricbuzz (24:13):"I don't think they'll do it now as it'll be making too much of a statement. They didn't change when they won, so they've to do the same thing when you lose. One more game and maybe they'll look to change after that."The former skipper suggested a possible look-in for Harshit Rana in place of Arshdeep Singh, saying:"Maybe Harshit Rana gets a run. Arshdeep played a lot of the ODIs, so Harshit might get a place in place of him. But the ball does move well, and I've seen Arshdeep bowl some good spells there, so that also might be a surprise if it happens."Arshdeep endured a rough outing in the second T20I against the Proteas, conceding 54 runs in his four overs without picking up a wicket."Maybe Surya needs to shift down the order" - Shaun Pollock on Team India skipper's worrisome formShaun Pollock weighed in on skipper Suryakumar Yadav's extended poor T20I form, suggesting a possible move down the batting order to regain his touch. The 35-year-old fell early for five in the second T20I against South Africa, making it 17 innings this year without a half-century."Sometimes it's just a break you need too. Or maybe Surya needs to shift down the order and play a different role for a while. Promote Tilak Varma to No. 3, and someone else can come at No. 4, maybe even come at 5 just before Hardik. Just to give himself a chance to find his touch," said Pollock (via the aforementioned source). He concluded:"The thing about him from the outside is he always seems to have so much confidence. Whenever you've watched him in the IPL, play for India or chat to him, he just seems to exude confidence. He must be feeling low on that. You can see him smiling in the dugout behind his team, but it hurts."Surya has averaged a disappointing 14.35 at a strike rate of 126.41 in 19 T20Is in 2025. It comes on the back of a sub-par 2024 season, where the veteran batter averaged under 27 in 18 T20Is.
