All 10 IPL franchises have to confirm their list of released and retained players on Saturday, November 15, ahead of the 2026 mini auction. As per reports, franchises have been asked to submit their final list by 3 PM IST on Saturday.
Since the upcoming auction will be a mini-auction, teams are allowed to retain as many players as they want. All they need to assure is that their squad size does not exceed the limit of 25 players. Each franchise is likely to be given a purse of around ₹120 crore for the mini-auction.
There has been plenty of action and excitement in the build-up to IPL 2026 retention day. While there have been a few significant player trades, some much-hyped exchanges have not gone through. Meanwhile, fans and experts are excited to see which star players are released and retained.

In India, the live telecast of IPL 2026 retentions will be available on Star Sports network channels. The event will be covered live in multiple Indian languages - Star Sports 2, Star Sports 2 (Hindi), Star Sports 2 (Tamil), Star Sports 2 (Telugu) and Star Sports 2 (Malayalam). The live coverage will begin at 5 PM IST.

IPL 2026 player trades
As mentioned earlier, there have been some interesting player trades ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Looking at the confirmed list first, all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been traded from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to Mumbai Indians (MI) to his existing player fee of ₹2 crore. West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford has been traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to MI for his existing price of ₹2.6 crore.
While not officially confirmed multiple reports have stated that Rajasthan Royals (RR) have traded wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in exchange for all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. MI have traded Arjun Tendulkar to LSG for ₹30 lakh. Also, Mohammad Shami is set to move from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to LSG in an all-cash ₹10 crore deal.
