The reverse countdown to the IPL 2026 auction has begun. The mini auction will take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Just a month before the auction, all 10 IPL franchises have announced their lists of players retained and released.
Unlike the previous seasons, multiple franchises were active during the trade window this year. The biggest trade was the move of Ravindra Jadeja from Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals. The star all-rounder played 200 matches for CSK, but he has returned to his first-ever IPL team RR for the 2026 edition.
On the other side, CSK have signed RR's former captain Sanju Samson in the trade window. Apart from that, Lucknow Super Giants have traded in ace fast bowler Mohammed Shami from SunRisers Hyderabad before the IPL 2026 auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders reportedly wanted Delhi Capitals' wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul in the trade window, but they failed to secure his services. KKR have let go of a majority of their big names ahead of the auction and have the highest purse value remaining for the auction in Abu Dhabi.
