India vs South Africa 2025, 1st ODI: Toss result and playing 11s for today’s match, umpires list and pitch report

Team India are taking on South Africa in MS Dhoni's hometown Ranchi (at the JSCA International Stadium Complex) in the first ODI of the three-match series. The hosts suffered a 2-0 hammering in the Test series recently and will be keen to come up with a much better effort in the one-dayers.

The Men in Blue will be led by KL Rahul in injured Shubman Gill's absence. Rahul had a disappointing Test series and would be keen to make amends. India will also be without the services of Shreyas Iyer, who is also recovering from an injury he suffered during the tour of Australia.

In the bowling department, India have rested a few key players. The hosts are without Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel even as Ravindra Jadeja has made a comeback. India will depend on Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna to deliver the goods in the pace bowling department.

"Spent a couple of evenings here training, there's a bit of dew in the night time. Slightly easier to bat towards the evening."

Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj have been rested for South Africa. India are going in with three spinners and three quicks.
