Former captain Kris Srikkanth made a sarcastic suggestion after India suffered a huge defeat in the second Test against South Africa. They were handed a humiliating 408-run loss and a 0-2 whitewash at home.

It was the second whitewash they suffered at home in two consecutive years, having lost 0-3 to New Zealand in 2024. With growing concerns around their record at home in Tests, Srikkanth sarcastically suggested that they must play all their Test matches in neutral venues going forward.

They managed to draw their recent away series in England 2-2. Therefore, Srikkanth reckoned that they could play in England and start performing better again.

"I have a very nice idea (sarcastic). India should play all their matches in neutral venues to do well. Play in England because they did well there. All matches to be played in England, then India will do very well in Test cricket. There will be a full crowd also, Indians will be there to support and watch," he said on his YouTube channel 'Cheeky Cheeka'.

Notably, they have now lost five out of their seven home Tests under Gautam Gambhir, including two whitewash defeats. Their only two wins came against the West Indies in the previous series.

Kris Srikkanth criticises India's failure to save the second Test

Kris Srikkanth also criticised the hosts' failure to save the second Test against South Africa. They entered the final day on 27/2 after being set a mammoth target of 549. However, they could not bat the entire day out and were skittled for just 140 in 63.5 overs.

Srikkanth stated that the players needed to take responsibility and reckoned that the South African bowling attack was not as deadly. He also reflected that the devastating defeat was a result of errors in the system, wrong selection calls, and the inability to handle pressure.

"Even players have to own up. Forget about winning, at least you can't save the Test? The bowling attack was not so deadly that you can't play seven hours. This is an overall error in the system, in picking the right XI, and to manage pressure. If there is no system, application, and process, what will you do? South Africa came the a vision, they came with a plan, and they executed," he said.

South Africa won a Test series on Indian soil for the first time in 2025 years after having whitewashed the hosts back in 2000 as well.
