ICC Women's World Cup 2025 shatters viewership records as Women in Blue create history

Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India Women scripted history by winning the 2025 Women's World Cup on Sunday, November 2. Their historic rise in women’s cricket also saw the digital viewership skyrocket for the premier ICC event.

As reported by ANI, the official broadcaster, JioStar, set new benchmarks as the tournament witnessed 446 million viewers, the highest ever for women in the sport. Notably, the 2025 viewership has surpassed the last three ICC Women’s World Cup viewerships.

Apart from viewership, JioHotstar also saw a sharp rise in engagement and reach as India entered a new era of women's cricket broadcasting.

Speaking about the Women’s World Cup viewership records, JioStar CEO Ishan Chatterjee said (via ANI):

185 million tuned in to watch as India beat South Africa to lift the maiden Women’s World Cup trophy; equal 2024 T20 World Cup final viewership

The Women’s World Cup final saw a staggering 185 million users on the platform as India beat South Africa by 52 runs to lift their maiden Women’s World Cup title. The viewership equalled the 2024 T20 World Cup final, where the Men in Blue beat the Proteas to clinch their second title.

With that, they also exceeded the average daily reach of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, the 2025 World Cup final witnessed a peak concurrency of 21 million viewers.

In yet another record, the Connected TV viewership also equalled the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup finals.

All eyes will now be on the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
