Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Murali Vijay opened up on Virat Kohli's aggressive nature amid South Africa's tour of India. Kohli was part of the recently concluded ODI series that the Men in Blue won 2-1.
Murali Vijay recalled how former England captain Michael Vaughan was having a banter with him during India's tour to England in 2018. He stated that legendary pacer James Anderson was also having a go at the Indian batters. Vijay reckoned that Virat Kohli was their answer as he loved to give it back to the opponent and did not hold back.
"Michael Vaughan was chirpy and he was saying the cloud is all over you and I said I'll talk to you at Tea time. We were having his banter. Anderson is also aggressive and he wants to have a chat. I feel Virat Kohli is the answer for us. Just one person is enough. He is aggressive and loves to have a confrontation with opponents. He gives it back ten folds and I was in the hot seat all the time. He likes to talk and bat. It is amazing to bat with him. The energy is so high," he said on Taruwar Kohli's YouTube channel.

Vijay played 61 Tests in his career. He scored 3982 runs at an average of 38.28 with 12 hundreds and 15 half-centuries. Having made his debut in 2008, he last played in the format in 2018 before he was dropped once and for all.

Murali Vijay also hailed Virat Kohli for bringing in a fitness revolution within the Indian team. During his tenure as captain, Kohli gave special attention to fitness and developed a culture within the team as well.
Vijay reckoned that they benefited from the change, resulting in India's first-ever Test series win against Australia in Australia in 2018.
"When Virat was captain, I remember, he came to us, he was so particular about fitness. He is like this is what the level we want to achieve. We all really put in an effort, and that was the reward we got in Australia in 2018. It is just about the person's energy to convince everybody," he said.
India won the four-match Test series 2-1 and created history.
