Team India star Rohit Sharma continued his solid form during the first ODI against South Africa on Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi. The Men in Blue are hosting the Proteas for a three-match ODI series.
India were asked to bat first after losing the toss. Rohit walked out to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. The 38-year-old continued from where he left off in Australia. He struck a 51-ball 57 here against South Africa. His knock included five boundaries and three sixes at a strike-rate of 111.76.
Rohit was involved in a 136-run stand off 109 balls with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. As he was dismissed after his 60th ODI half-century, fans praised the opener for his impressive knock. He was given out LBW and walked away without challenging the decision.
It was another timely innings for him, with questions around his future in the Indian team.
"3rd back to back 50+ score for Rohit Sharma who is getting near his absolute prime at the age of 38 !!! He’s not going anywhere 🔥," a fan wrote on X.
"Rohit Sharma at this point is just a treat to watch. Didn't even take the DRS. Not chasing records and just enjoying playing cricket. Selfless max pro brother," another fan tweeted.

Rohit Sharma continues impressive form in ODIs from Australia tour
With question marks over his spot in the ODI side and the 2027 World Cup participation, Rohit Sharma is proving himself. Despite playing only one format, he managed to remain in good touch and carry his form.
In India's recent ODI series against Australia Down Under, Rohit was the leading run-getter with 202 runs from three games at an average of 101. He scored 73 runs in the second game and struck an unbeaten 121 in the final match.
The right-hander appeared to have carried the same form into the ODIs against South Africa at home. Overall, he has played 277 games so far, amassing 11427 runs at an average of 49.25 with 33 hundreds.
