Full list of Sri Lankan players in IPL 2026 auction with base price

The much-awaited player list for the IPL 2026 auction was released on Tuesday, December 9. A total of 350 cricketers will go under the hammer during the mini-auction, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

A report in iplt20.com confirmed that 1,390 players had signed up for the IPL 2026 auction, out of which 350 were shortlisted. The final auction list features 240 Indian players and 110 overseas cricketers. There are 224 uncapped Indians and 14 uncapped overseas players who have signed up for the auction. Also, 16 capped Indian players and 96 capped overseas cricketers have registered for the auction.

While 350 players will go under the hammer on December 16, the 10 franchises will battle it out to fill up a maximum of 77 slots, with 31 of the spots being reserved for overseas players. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the biggest purse for the auction (₹64.3 crore), while Mumbai Indians (MI) have the smallest (₹2.75 crore).

Which Sri Lankan players have registered for the IPL 2026 auction?

A total of 12 Sri Lanka players have registered for the IPL 2026 auction, with three of them featuring in the highest base price bracket of ₹2 crore - Wanindu Hasaranga, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana.

Hasaranga represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025. In 11 matches, he claimed 11 wickets at an average of 33.72 and an economy rate of 9.04, with a best of 4-35. Theekshana also played 11 games for RR, claiming 11 wickets at an economy rate of 9.76. Pathirana was released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In 12 matches in IPL 2025, he claimed 13 scalps at an economy rate of 10.13.

Looking at the Sri Lankan players retained by their respective franchises ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Nuwan Thushara was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) retained Kamindu Mendis and Eshan Malinga, while Delhi Capitals (DC) retained Dushmantha Chameera.

The 2026 IPL mini-auction is scheduled to get underway in Abu Dhabi on December 16 at 1:00 PM UAE time (2:30 PM IST).
