"Everyone looks at him with respect" - Jitesh Sharma names star player as the Amitabh Bachchan of the Indian team post AUS vs IND 2025 series

Team India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has drawn similarities of his teammates to Bollywood superstars. Jitesh notably referred to Jasprit Bumrah as the Amitabh Bachchan of the Indian team due to the respect he commands and being the senior-most bowler of the side.

Amitabh Bachchan, one of the most accomplished actors in Bollywood, has done over 150 films and won numerous awards for some incredible on-screen performances. Similarly, Bumrah has become the kingpin of the Indian bowling attack across formats and played a vital role in the Men in Blue's T20 World Cup victory last year.

When asked during a chat with Sports Yaari about who he thinks is the Big B of the Indian team, the 32-year-old claimed (34:19):

"Jasprit Bumrah. Everyone looks at him with respect. He is a senior, senior-most. Whenever you want a hit, let’s bring Amitabh Bachchan."

He went on to describe explosive opener Abhishek Sharma as the Salman Khan for his 'Dabanng' attitude.

Finally, he stated that Shubman Gill as Shah Rukh Khan, claiming:

"Because of his style, rapport, fashion. You’ll be very warm to see him."

Gill has not only become famous for his style statement but also his penchant for run-scoring, especially in Tests and ODIs. The youngster is currently the captain of the Test and ODI side and the vice-captain in T20Is.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra-born keeper-batter had replaced Sanju Samson in the role following the second T20I against Australia. He responded with a cameo of 22 off 13 deliveries in the third T20I in Hobart as the tourists managed to square the series. Jitesh was also sharp behind the stumps as the Men in Blue secured the series by 2-1 scoreline.

The 32-year-old could be retained by the Royal Challengers ahead of the mini auction. He mustered 261 runs in 15 games with a strike rate of 176.35 as part of the franchise's title victory in IPL 2025.
