Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh made a hilarious remark about the in-form Abhishek Sharma's obsession with his bat in a recent event. Yuvraj claims the young opener will even cry and fight to ensure his bats stay with him.

It is well-documented that Yuvraj has mentored Abhishek over the years, with the latter reaping the rewards with his breathtaking batting since his Indian debut last year.

Talking about the young left-hander's bat obsession, Yuvraj said (via TOI):

"You can take anything from Abhishek, but nobody can take a bat from him. Ye mar jayega, pit jayega, ro dega par apna bat nahi dega — he’ll fight, even cry, but won’t give his bat away. Even if he has ten bats, he’ll say he only has two. He’s taken so many of mine but never parts with his own."

Abhishek lit up the 2024 IPL season with almost 500 runs at a strike rate of over 200, earning a place in the Indian T20I side. The 25-year-old hasn't looked back since, scoring over 1,000 runs at an average of 37.48 and a strike rate of almost 190 in 29 T20Is.

Abhishek Sharma has taken his T20I batting to greater heights this year, averaging over 47 at a strike rate of 196.36 in 17 outings. The youngster is coming off back-to-back Player of the Tournament honors in India's two most recent T20I assignments - the Asia Cup and the Australian series.

Abhishek scored 314 runs in seven matches in the Asia Cup at an average of almost 45 and a strike rate of 200, helping India clinch the title with an unbeaten run through the competition. The southpaw followed that up with a solid showing in the five-match T20I series in Australia, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 163 runs at an average of 40.75 and a strike rate of 161.38.

Abhishek Sharma also holds the record for the second-fastest T20I century by an Indian batter in 37 balls against England earlier this year. The destructive left-hander will be in action next when India take on South Africa in a five-match T20I series at home, starting December 9.
