"Don't have the personality that suits Indian cricket" - Former batter’s shocking claim on Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan snubs after IND vs SA 2025 Tests

Former cricketer Robin Uthappa pointed out that Indian players like Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran have consistently done well in domestic cricket. He highlighted that despite those performances, they haven't had a proper run to prove themselves in Test cricket.

Uthappa opined that those guys don't have a "personality" that suits Indian cricket, which could be the reason for their recent snubs. The cricketer-turned-commentator said in his latest YouTube video:

"Today, when I look at who can play in this Indian team, who've actually earned their stripes in first-class cricket, would be Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan and N. Jagadeesan. These are guys who've done well repeatedly over and over again in first-class cricket, but they haven't gotten an opportunity. They've been in the fringe, but they probably don't have the personality that suits Indian cricket, so they've been kind of left out."

Karun returned to the Test team following an eight-year gap after being picked for the five-match away Test series against England. He was dropped from the side after the tour, despite a 57-run outing in the first innings of the final fixture.

Sarfaraz, on the other hand, last played for India during the side's three-match Test series against New Zealand at home. He scored 171 runs across six innings, including a 150-run knock in the opening encounter.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has yet to make his Test debut, even after being picked in the squad multiple times. He was dropped ahead of the West Indies home series earlier this year.

"The need of the hour today"- Robin Uthappa urges BCCI to identify Test centres in India

India suffered a humiliating 0-2 Test series whitewash against South Africa. Following the result, Robin Uthappa believes the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must identify a few Test centres in the country and stick to them for a few years.

He added in the same video:

"Test centres in India, which is the need of the hour today. If, after hitting rock bottom, BCCI can't come up with five to seven Test centres that they play on (it is disappointing). Yes, we understand there are a lot of Test grounds in India, there is a lot of history there. So, pick your top seven and stick to those top seven."

It is worth mentioning that Uthappa's suggestion aligns with former captain Virat Kohli's vision. In 2019, Kohli also emphasized that India should play in just five Test centres in the country.
