India batter Dhruv Jurel completely miscued a long hop and departed cheaply on Day 3 (Sunday, November 16) of the ongoing first Test against South Africa. The contest is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

His dismissal came off the final delivery of the 15th over of India’s second innings. Simon Harmer bowled a short, rank long hop that held up slightly off the surface. Jurel went for the pull but caught it off the toe end of the bat, sending a simple catch to Corbin Bosch at deep mid-wicket.

The right-handed batter fell for 13 off 34 deliveries, striking three boundaries. His dismissal left the hosts in trouble at 33/3 after 15 overs. At the time of writing, India were 38/3 after 18 overs, needing 86 more to win, with Washington Sundar (22) and Rishabh Pant (2) at the crease.

In their second innings, South Africa once again struggled, slipping to 60/5 while skipper Temba Bavuma held firm at one end. Bavuma, along with Corbin Bosch (25), added a vital 44-run stand for the eighth wicket. Bavuma remained unbeaten on 55 off 136 deliveries, hitting four fours, as South Africa were bowled out for 153 in 54 overs, setting India a target of 124 runs.
