South African batting star Dewald Brevis has revealed that he has his former IPL teammate's number on speed dial. He answered a few rapid fire questions ahead of the first Test against India, beginning on Friday, November 14, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. When asked whose number he has on speed dial, the youngster took Tilak Varma's name.Brevis and Tilak made their IPL debuts in 2022 for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and delivered promising performances. Although the season did not go well for the team, the tournament unearthed two serious batting talents in Tilak and Brevis. Hence, it will be a colossal task for them. The right-handed batter has managed 138 runs in his four Tests at 23 with a couple of fifties.The Proteas had suffered a 3-0 defeat in 2019 and haven't won a Test on Indian soil since 2010. Nevertheless, they will gain confidence from their recent convincing victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi to draw the series 1-1. South Africa, the reigning World Test Champions, are fifth in the standings for the 2025-27 cycle.
