Delhi Capitals (DC) announced the list of their retained players on Thursday, November 6, ahead of the upcoming 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) auction. According to the rules, each franchise was allowed to retain a maximum of five players.
The Delhi-based side retained Team India stars Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and uncapped Indian player Niki Prasad. Their two overseas picks were Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland and South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp.
The most notable absentee from the list was former captain and opening batter Meg Lanning. She is currently Delhi's highest run-getter in the competition, with 952 runs across 27 matches at a strike rate of 127.10.
Under Lanning's leadership, Delhi made it to the final in all three seasons of the tournament. However, they failed to cross the final frontier each time, finishing as the runners-up in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
DC were the table-toppers in the group stage of WPL 2025. Their campaign ended in heartbreak as they suffered an eight-run defeat to the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the summit clash.
List of players retained by DC with the price tag
Jemimah Rodrigues - ₹2.2 crore
Shafali Verma - ₹2.2 crore
Annabel Sutherland - ₹2.2 crore
Marizanne Kapp - ₹2.2 crore
Niki Prasad - ₹50 lakh
DC purse for WPL 2026 auction
All teams were allotted ₹15 crore each for the WPL 2026 auction. Delhi used ₹9.3 crore for their five retentions. They will go into the WPL 2026 auction with a remaining purse of ₹5.7 crore.
The franchise has the joint-lowest purse alongside Mumbai Indians. UP Warriorz have the biggest purse, with a remaining sum of ₹14.5 crore. Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are left with ₹9 crore and ₹6.15 crore, respectively.
It is worth noting that by retaining five players, Delhi are left with no Right-To-Match cards. The WPL 2026 auction is likely to take place later this month.
