Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Ruturaj Gaikwad made a heart-warming gesture towards Prithvi Shaw after Maharashtra's Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match against Chandigarh. On Monday, October 28, Maharashtra beat Chandigarh by 144 runs.Ruturaj had scored a century in the first innings, making 116 runs off 163 balls with 15 boundaries. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 36 off 35 balls, and was named the 'Player of the Match'. His stellar knock included 29 fours and five maximums at a strike-rate of 142.30.Prithvi Shaw will aim to prove himself on Ranji Trophy comebackPrithvi Shaw was dropped from Mumbai's squad midway through the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, citing fitness and disciplinary issues. Following that, the opening batter sought a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from Mumbai to shift his base to Maharashtra.This is therefore his comeback season in the premier domestic tournament after being dropped in the previous edition. He has been in solid form since joining Maharashtra.While his Ranji Trophy campaign with his new side began with a duck, he scored a half-century in the second innings, hitting 75 runs off 102 balls against Kerala.In their second match, he slammed a sensational double ton against Chandigarh, taking his total to 305 runs from four innings at an average of 76.25 with a hundred and a half-century.The opener will be keen to make the most of this opportunity.
