Australian legend Glenn McGrath hilariously tried to put on an aggressive reaction after Nathan Lyon overtook his wicket-tally on Day 2 of the 3rd Ashes 2025-26 Test at the Adelaide Oval. In a video shared by Cricket Australia's X handle, McGrath, who was commentating, playfully tried to slam the chair with a smile on his face.Having been dropped for the pink-ball Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, Lyon returned for the contest in Adelaide, having 562 scalps under his belt. With McGrath retiring with 563 Test wickets, Lyon required only one over to overtake the former new-ball bowler's tally.After dismissing Ollie Pope for 3, the off-spinner took his 563rd wicket and followed it up by getting the better of Ben Duckett. The right-arm speedster dismissed Zak Crawley for 9 and removed Joe Root for 19 after Lunch, landing a body blow on the tourists.The home side began Day 2 at 326/8 but hurried off to 371 as Mitchell Starc struck a flurry of boundaries before Jofra Archer got the better of him for 54. Archer also removed Nathan Lyon to claim a five-wicket haul, bowling Australia out in 91.2 overs. Cummins had won the toss on Day 1 and opted to bat first.Although a lot of Aussie batters got off to promising starts, only Usman Khawaja (82) and Alex Carey (106) made big scores. Khawaja was notably recalled after Steve Smith was ruled out shortly before the toss due to illness.The hosts have a commanding 2-0 lead in the five-Test series. At the time of writing, England are 113/4 with Harry Brook (36*) and skipper Ben Stokes (15*) out in the middle.
