Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had to depart for 10 runs after a stunning acrobatic catch by Aiden Markram on Day 3 of the second Test against South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The right-handed batter tried to fend off a bouncer by Marco Jansen, but could only nick it to the slip cordon, where the Proteas opener clinched a stunner.

The Men in Blue were in all sorts of trouble at the end of the first session, losing three wickets in quick succession. Their plight extended into the second session as well after Rishabh Pant perished after attempting a rash shot, bringing Nitish Kumar Reddy to the crease.

The all-rounder had a jittery start to the crease after almost dragging one onto the stumps off Simon Harmer's bowling. He then edged a delivery off Marco Jansen's bowling for a streaky boundary soon after. In the 42nd over of the innings, the left-arm pacer bowled a steep bouncer aimed at the batter's head.

Nitish Kumar Reddy brought his bat up, and tried to fend off the bouncer, aiming to keep the ball down, mindful of the short leg in place. However, the ball deflected off after hitting the shoulder of the bat, looping towards the outskirts of the slip cordon.

Markram, stationed at second slip, had to watch the ball moving away from him. However, making the most of his good starting position, he launched towards the ball, and put in a perfectly timed full-fledged dive to pouch the ball in time. Have a look at the stunning catch right here:

The Proteas have been near faultless in the field, as earlier, fellow opening batter Ryan Rickleton held onto a brilliant catch to dismiss Sai Sudharsan in the first session of Day 3.

Ravindra Jadeja also undone by a Marco Jansen bouncer after Nitish Kumar Reddy in IND vs SA 2025 2nd Test

Marco Jansen made another breakthrough with the short-ball tactic as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also perished in a similar fashion soon after Nitish Kumar Reddy's dismissal. The left-handed batter was struck on his shoulder by the bouncer, before the ball deflected to hit his bat, and then landed straight to Aiden Markram once again in the slips.

At the time of writing, India are struggling at 123-7 in the 46th over. They are still 366 runs behind the visitors' mammoth first innings score in the must-win clash.
