Team India opener Abhishek Sharma was surprised after Australia offered him two reprieves in the fifth and final T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, November 8. In a video shared by cricket.com.au on social media, the left-handed batter's expression said it all as Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis fluffed a couple of easy chances to give lifelines to the opener.

The first dropped chance came in the opening over of the innings as Dwarshuis bowled a full delivery outside off-stump and Abhishek wanted to lift it over mid-off. However, the miscued opportunity meant that it only went to Maxwell. The Victorian looked to take the catch around his ribs but it hit his hands and went through to the ground. The second opportunity came in the fourth over as captain Mitchell Marsh turned to Nathan Ellis, who sent down a short-pitched delivery.

The youngster got a top-edge but the ball went through Dwarshuis's hands as the left-arm seamer ran in from fine leg.

The 25-year-old was also given a reprieve in the previous game in the very first over but was eventually dismissed for 28 by Adam Zampa.

Meanwhile, both Abhishek and Shubman Gill put Australian bowlers to the sword. Gill, who has struggled throughout the tour, has scored 29 off 16 balls with six boundaries under his belt. The right-hander hammered four boundaries in Dwarshuis' second over, including three consecutive ones.

The Men in Blue reached 52 in 4.5 overs before the umpires instructed the players to go off the ground due to the impending showers. The hosts won the toss and decided to bowl first. While Australia remained unchanged, India triggered one change, resting Tilak Varma to bring in Rinku Singh.

The tourists currently lead the five-game T20I series by 2-1.
