Veteran pacer Mohammad Shami's wait for an international comeback continues as he was not picked in the Indian squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. The 35-year-old claimed 15 wickets in the first two matches of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season for Bengal. However, it wasn't enough to convince the selectors to hand him a recall.

Shami has missed a majority of international cricket following his heroics in the 2023 ODI World Cup at home. He was recalled for the white-ball series against England at home at the start of the year and even featured in the subsequent Champions Trophy in the UAE. However, he has not been picked for India since the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in March.

Shami has so far featured in 108 ODIs. In the wake of the debate around his possible international comeback, we compare his stats with those of former Aussie speedster Brett Lee after the latter had also played 108 ODIs.
