Team India all-rounder Axar Patel was surprisingly not included in the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa at home. The 31-year-old was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2025 Champions Trophy and also featured in the three-match one-day series in Australia.

The BCCI has not given any explanation as to why Axar has not been picked in the Indian team for the one-day series against the Proteas. Some experts and fans reckon that he has been rested. A few, however, are also of the opinion that he has been dropped in favor of Ravindra Jadeja, who was rested for the Australia series.

Having made his debut in 2014, Axar has featured in 71 ODI matches so far. In the wake of the debate over his non-selection for the series against South Africa, we compare his stats with those of Jadeja after the latter had also played 71 ODIs.
