Seasoned West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). He had earlier retired from international cricket in July this year. Speaking of his IPL career for KKR, represented the franchise from 2014 to 2025, but was released by Kolkata ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
On Sunday, November 30, Russell took to his official social media handles to announce his decision to retire from the IPL. In a video message, he stated that he would continue to feature in other leagues across the globe and also for other KKR franchises. The 37-year-old also confirmed that he would stay with Kolkata for the IPL 2026 season as 'power coach'.
