Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) surprised one and all by releasing star all-rounder Andre Russell ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Russell, whom they had retained for ₹12 crore, scored 167 runs from 10 innings last season at a strike-rate of 163.72 and bagged eight wickets.
Andre Russell began his IPL journey in 2012 with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). After two seasons with them, he moved to KKR in 2014 and the rest, as they as, is history. His long association with the franchise has come to an end for now, unless they look to buy him back.
While Russell is expected to be a hot property at the auction, there is another all-rounder who is certain to create bidding wars. He is none other than the Australian Cameron Green. Green missed the IPL last year due to injury but is likely to enter the auction this time around.
He has played two seasons so far in 2023 and 2024, having represented the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
