With Prabhsimran Singh as his opening partner, the duo set the platform for Punjab's carnage with the bat. They struck a mammoth 205-run stand in just 12.3 overs before Prabhsimran was dismissed.

As Abhishek Sharma wreaked havoc with the bat, here are five records/milestones he made during his stellar century against Bengal.

Abhishek Sharma smashed a record 16 sixes in his 148-run knock. He broke his own record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a calendar year in T20 cricket. Abhishek had hit 87 sixes in 38 innings in 2024.

With 16 sixes against Bengal here, he now has 91 sixes this year in just 33 innings. He crossed the 90-sixes mark with his 15th maximum. Before Abhishek (2024), the record was held by India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who had scored 71 sixes in 33 innings in 2023.

Abhishek Sharma's 16 sixes are the second-most by an Indian batter in a T20 innings. He came close to equalling or breaking the record, but fell slightly short. The record for the most sixes in a T20 innings by an Indian is held by former cricketer Punit Bisht.

#3 Third fastest T20 hundred by an Indian

Abhishek Sharma notched up his magnificent century off just 32 balls against Bengal. This was the third fastest T20 hundred by an Indian batter. Notably, Gujarat's Urvil Patel had smashed a 28-ball century against Tripura in the 2024 SMAT edition.

Abhishek Sharma had himself smashed a 28-ball ton against Meghalaya last year. Therefore, Urvil and Abhishek hold the record for the fastest T20 hundred by an Indian batter. The second fastest was also by Urvil, when he struck a 31-ball ton against Services in the ongoing season. Thus, Abhishek's 32-ball hundred is the third fastest by an Indian in T20s. He reached his fifty in just 12 balls, which was also the joint-fastest among Indians in the format.
