Vaibhav Suryavanshi took one and all by storm once again with his monstrous hitting at the top. The 14-year-old smashed a blistering century in India's U-19 Asia Cup 2025 fixture against the UAE U-19 on Friday, December 12.

Batting first, India U-19 posted a gigantic total of 433/6 from their 50 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi led the charge with a scintillating 171 off just 95 balls. His swashbuckling knock came at a strike rate of 180. He reached his half-century off 30 balls and then increased the pace of his innings. The left-hander raced to his century off just 56 balls and went past the 150-mark off just 84 balls.

Aaron George (69) and Vihaan Malhotra (69) also struck vital half-centuries while Abhigyan Kundu (32 not out off 17) and Kanishk Chouhan (28 off 12) gave the team a solid finish.

#5 Most sixes in an innings in U-19 Asia Cup

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 171-run knock included nine boundaries and 14 sixes. He broke the record for the most sixes hit in an innings in the U-19 Asia Cup. The record was previously held by Afghanistan’s Darwish Rasooli.

Rasooli had smashed 10 sixes against the UAE-19 during the 2017 U-19 Asia Cup. He had scored an unbeaten 105 off just 38 balls at a strike rate of 276.31. Suryavanshi also broke the record for the most sixes by a batter overall in the U-19 Asia Cup. He took his tally to 26 sixes, going past Rasooli's tally of 22.


#4 Most sixes in an innings in Youth ODIs (overall)

Vaibhav Suryavanshi also broke the record for the most sixes in an innings overall in Youth ODIs. With 14 maximums, he went past Australia's Michael Hill, who previously held the record with 12 sixes against Namibia in 2008.

Craig Simmons holds the third spot with 11 sixes against Kenya in 2002, while Shahzaib Khan is fourth with 10 sixes against India in 2024.


#3 Highest score by an Indian in U-19 Asia Cup

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 95-ball 171 is the highest score by an Indian in the U-19 Asia Cup. The record was held previously by Himanshu Rana, who had scored a 123-ball 130. His knock had come against Afghanistan in the semi-final of the 2016 edition.

His 171 is also the second-highest individual score in the U-19 Asia Cup history. He is only behind Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar, who had scored 209 against Qatar in the 2012 edition.


#2 Second-highest score by an Indian in U-19 ODIs

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was also close to breaking the record for the highest score by an Indian in U-19 ODIs. He fell short and ended up with the second-highest score by an Indian in U-19 ODIs with 171.

Ambati Rayudu holds the record for the highest such score. He had struck an unbeaten 177 off just 114 balls against England U-19 at Taunton in 2002. His knock included 16 boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 155.26.


#1 First batter to cross 50 sixes in Youth ODIs

Vaibhav Suryavanshi also achieved a unique half-century, becoming the first player in Youth ODIs history to cross 50 career sixes. The left-hander had 43 sixes in 11 innings before the game against the UAE.

Having struck 14 maximums, he now has 57 sixes in just 12 innings. Among Indians as well, he is at the top of the list. No other Indian batter has even gone past the 40-sixes mark, with former skipper Unmukt Chand's tally of 38 being the second best.
