Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy was among the key performers for India as they sealed a seven-wicket victory over South Africa in the third T20I. The Men in Blue also took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

The bowlers put up an excellent display as India bundled South Africa out for just 117 runs after winning the toss. It was a combined effort as Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

In reply, Abhishek Sharma smashed an 18-ball 35 that got the hosts off to a blazing start. Although South Africa managed to pick three wickets, the game was as good as over long ago. India got over the line in just 15.5 overs. Shubman Gill scored 28 runs while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 25.

#4 Third fastest to 4000 T20 runs among Indians

Star batter Tilak Varma became the third-fastest Indian batter to reach 4000 runs in T20 cricket. The left-hander took 125 innings to reach the landmark and is only behind KL Rahul (117 innings) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (116 innings). He went past Virat Kohli (138 innings) and Shubman Gill (129 innings) on the list.

Tilak walked out to bat at three and finished the game against South Africa, scoring an unbeaten 25 of 34 balls with three boundaries. He now has 4019 runs from 125 innings at an average of 43.21 and a strike rate of 143.99 with four hundreds and 23 half-centuries.


#3 Third Indian to reach 100 T20I wickets

All-rounder Hardik Pandya achieved a significant milestone. He became only the third Indian bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets. Hardik dismissed Tristan Stubbs to achieve the milestone. He now has exactly 100 wickets from 123 matches, at an average of 26.78 and an economy rate of 8.24, with best figures of 4/16.

Hardik is only behind Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. Bumrah has 101 wickets from 82 games, while Arshdeep has 109 scalps from 71 games.


#2 Fourth player with 1000-plus runs, 100-plus sixes, and 100-plus wickets in T20Is

Hardik Pandya also achieved an incredible feat. He became only the fourth player with over 1000 runs, 100 sixes, and 100 wickets in T20Is. The Indian all-rounder joined Sikandar Raza, Mohammad Nabi, and Virandeep Singh in this list.

He has 1939 runs from 96 innings at an average of 28.10 and a strike rate of 141.3 with 101 sixes. As mentioned earlier, he also has 100 wickets from 111 innings. Hardik is also the first Indian to do the double of 1000 runs and 100 or more wickets in T20Is.

Sikandar Raza has 2883 runs with 133 sixes and 102 wickets. Nabi has 2417 runs with 122 sixes and 104 wickets. Virandeep has 3180 runs with 131 sixes and 109 wickets.


#1 Varun Chakaravarthy becomes second fastest Indian to 50 T20I wickets

Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy became the second fastest Indian bowler to bag 50 T20I wickets. He bowled a terrific spell, returning figures of 2/11 from four overs, dismissing Donovan Ferreira and Marco Jansen.

Varun Chakaravarthy took 30 innings to achieve the milestone. He now has 51 scalps from 32 matches at an average of 15.00 and an economy of 6.74. Kuldeep Yadav is the fastest Indian bowler to have achieved this feat, doing so in 29 innings. Overall, Varun Chakaravarthy is the third-fastest (among full member nations) to 50 T20I wickets, behind Kuldeep and Ajanta Mendis.
