After being put in to bat first, South Africa finished on 213/4 after 20 overs. Senior keeper-batter Quinton de Kock shone with the bat, scoring 90 runs off 46 deliveries.

Donovan Ferreira played a quick-fire cameo, remaining unbeaten on 30 runs from 16 balls. Varun Chakaravarthy was the pick of the Men in Blue bowlers, recording impressive figures of 4-0-29-2.

India got off to a shaky start with the bat, losing three wickets within the powerplay. Their batting let them down in the clash, with Tilak Varma being the lone warrior.

The southpaw hit a fighting half-century, contributing 62 runs in 34 balls. Jitesh Sharma gave the hosts some hope with a 27-run knock from 17 deliveries. However, it wasn't enough as the side was bowled out for 162 in 19.1 overs.

Ottneil Baartman was South Africa's most successful bowler, delivering a stunning spell of 4-0-24-4. De Kock was named the Player of the Match for his superb knock.

Here are three moments from the game that generated a buzz among fans:

#1 Arshdeep Singh creates an unwanted record with a 13-ball over

It was an evening to forget for Arshdeep Singh. The left-arm pacer remained wicketless and conceded 54 runs from his four overs. He struggled with his line in the 11th over of South Africa's innings.

He was hit for a six by Quinton de Kock on the first ball of the over. He ended up bowling seven wides, giving away 18 runs from the 13-ball over.

Notably, it was the joint-longest over in T20Is by a full-member nation player. He matched Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq, who bowled a 13-ball over against Zimbabwe in December 2024.

#2 Jitesh Sharma pulls off a sensational run out to deny Quinton de Kock a century

Quinton de Kock dazzled viewers with a sublime batting performance. The southpaw struck seven sixes and five fours during his stay at the crease. He missed out on a well-deserved century as Jitesh Sharma pulled off a terrific run out.

On the first ball of the 16th over, de Kock got an underedge off mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling. He stepped out of his crease briefly. Jitesh showed great reflexes behind the stumps.

He collected the ball and broke the stumps swiftly to end de Kock's fantastic knock. Here's a video of the dismissal:

#3 Jitesh Sharma's lucky escape during India's run chase

Jitesh Sharma entertained the viewers by hitting two sixes and as many fours. Interestingly, the right-handed batter almost lost his wicket when he was on five.

The incident took place on the second delivery of the 16th over. Jitesh went for a big hit against Ottneil Baartman. He failed to connect, and the ball brushed the bail.

However, he survived as the bail lit up, but didn't dislodge, and it settled back into the groove.
