After being put in to bat first, India finished on 167/8 after 20 overs. Shubman Gill was the top scorer with a 46-run knock from 39 balls. Abhishek Sharma (28 off 21), Shivam Dube (22 off 18) and Axar Patel (21* off 11) chipped in with handy cameos.

Pacer Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers, recording figures of 4-0-21-3. Leg spinner Adam Zampa claimed three wickets as well, while conceding 45 runs from his four overs.

In response to India's total, the hosts were bowled out for just 119 in 18.2 overs. They lost wickets in quick succession, making things difficult for them. Openers Mitchell Marsh (30 off 24) and Matthew Short (25 off 19) were the only batters to cross the 20-run mark in the innings.

Washington Sundar took three wickets, while Axar Patel and Shivam Dube claimed two scalps each. Axar was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance.

On that note, let's take a look at three moments from the encounter that generated a buzz among the fans:

#1 Tim David performs a strange celebration after taking Suryakumar Yadav's catch

Suryakumar Yadav got off to an impressive start but failed to convert it into a big score. The Indian skipper perished on the first ball of the 16th over. He went for a big hit off Xavier Bartlett's bowling but failed to get enough distance.

The ball went towards Tim David at deep square leg. He almost dropped the catch, but the ball eventually stuck to his fingertips. Interestingly, he celebrated the dismissal with a bizarre reaction.

David hilariously made the gesture of licking the ball after completing the tough catch. Here's a video of the catch and celebration:

#2 Shivam Dube hits a massive six after a message from the Indian dressing room

Shivam Dube was promoted to the No. 3 spot in India's batting order for the clash. During the 11th over, Rinku Singh sprinted into the field with drinks and passed on a message from the dressing room to Dube and Shubman Gill.

The southpaw understood the plan clearly as he launched a huge six right straightaway after the message. He sent a full delivery from Adam Zampa sailing over the fence for a maximum.

#3 Varun Chakaravarthy cleans up Glenn Maxwell with a smart googly

Varun Chakaravarthy once again got the better of Glenn Maxwell, claiming his wicket for the sixth time in nine T20 innings. The Australian batter failed to deliver an impactful performance for his side.

He scored just two runs off four balls before falling to Chakaravarthy. The mystery spinner dished out a googly on the final ball of the 15th over. Maxwell made room and looked to play it on the off side.

However, he failed to make any connection, and the ball ended up hitting the top of the off stump.
