The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa continued to see-saw in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 14. The Men in Blue came out on top by seven wickets to take a 2-1 lead and bounce back from their comprehensive defeat in the previous game in Mullanpur.
India, on the whole, had an excellent outing. All six bowling options were among the wickets, and none of them had a poor economy rate. In the chase, however, a few key players didn't cover themselves in glory.
On that note, here are two Indian players who flopped and one who starred in the third T20I against South Africa.
#3 Flop - Suryakumar Yadav

India's captain has had a miserable 2025. Suryakumar Yadav's average and strike rate don't make for pretty reading, and the last thing the hosts want heading into a T20 World Cup is a cloud hanging over the form of their captain.
But that is the reality they are currently in. Suryakumar's lean run continued in Dharamsala despite him walking in with the match in a favorable situation. Even though the first wicket fell towards the end of the powerplay, India sent in Tilak Varma and not their skipper.
By the time Suryakumar came to the crease, the match was essentially sealed. He couldn't get the team over the line, however. Concerningly, he once again got out to a shot that was once his bread and butter, indicating that his hand-eye coordination may be on the wane.
#2 Star - Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh had a nightmare outing in Mullanpur, but he bounced back well in the third T20I in Dharamsala. The left-armer was adjudged the Player of the Match for his two-wicket haul as he conceded just 13 runs in his four overs.
Arshdeep got the new ball to move in both directions, dismissing Reeza Hendricks inside the first over. He threatened to take wickets throughout his three-over spell and dismissed the impressive Aiden Markram in his final over. It was a hugely encouraging performance from the seamer.
#1 Flop - Shubman Gill

Another batter who is going through a lean run, Shubman Gill seemed completely out of sorts in the third T20I. He scored 28 runs, but they weren't even remotely convincing.
Gill had a number of close shaves, narrowly surviving a Marco Jansen LBW call off his first ball. The outside edge of his bat was found multiple times, and his feet seemed to be stuck in quicksand even though the South African bowlers were getting the ball to nip around.
Gill also didn't show much initiative to play scoring shots once India were ahead of the required run rate. It seemed like he just wanted to get out of the chase with an unbeaten knock, but those plans were foiled by another unconvincing jab off Jansen.
