A sensational knock from Quinton de Kock powered South Africa to an above-par 213/4 in the second T20I against India on Thursday, December 11. The visitors then held their nerve in the second innings to seal a comfortable 51-run win in Mullanpur.

The series is now all square at 1-1. A number of Protea players impressed - apart from De Kock and Donovan Ferreira in the batting department, Ottneil Baartman, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen made important bowling contributions. For the Men in Blue, however, the picture wasn't as rosy, with only a couple managing to end as net positives.

On that note, here are two Indian players who flopped and one who starred in the second T20I against South Africa.

#3 Flop - Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is one of India's best T20I bowlers ever, but he turned in a miserable display in Mullanpur. Playing at the home ground of his Indian Premier League franchise, the left-arm seamer leaked 54 runs in the four overs he bowled.

Arshdeep lost his radar in almost every over he bowled, sending down a total of nine wides. His third over was a particular disaster as he sprayed the ball around on both sides of the wicket. Even otherwise, the fast bowler missed his yorker with regularity and couldn't make an impact at any stage of the innings.

#2 Star - Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy has been India's most reliable bowler in recent times. The spinner was once again the standout as he picked up two wickets, the important ones of Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram.

Markram got Varun away for a couple of sixes over the long-on region, but the spinner bounced back strongly and had a few words to say about it as well. He proved tough to get away even when he missed his lengths, conceding just 29 runs in his four overs.

#1 Flop - Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill can't seem to buy a run at the moment. Following a two-ball knock in the series opener, the right-hander bagged a first-ball blob in Mullanpur. Lungi Ngidi once again had him in all sorts of trouble, squaring him up with one that nipped away.

Gill's place in the T20I team is under serious question at the moment. There's absolutely no justification behind him playing ahead of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and maybe even Sanju Samson for that matter. The opening batter needs to have a great run in the remaining three games if he is to ensure himself a spot in the squad for the T20 World Cup.
