Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has been in the spotlight after his team suffered a 35-10 loss to Georgia last Saturday. It was the Longhorns' third loss of the season, adding another dent to their hopes of making the College Football Playoff.
Since Sarkisian's Texas might not make the playoffs, there were rumors that the coach might get fired at the end of the season. Even former LSU offensive tackle Breiden Fehoko, who won a national title in 2020, suggested that the Longhorns' coaching job might soon become available.
"Why do I feel like that job in Austin is going to become available soon," Fehoko tweeted on Thursday.
Sarkisian's Texas will face Arkansas in Week 13 on Saturday. The Longhorns will need a big win to remain in contention for the College Football Playoff.
Texas will also have to record a convincing win over Texas A&M in its final regular-season game on Friday. The Aggies are the third-ranked team in the country with an unbeaten 10-0 (7-0 Southeastern Conference) record.
Steve Sarkisian addresses rumors of leaving Texas HC job

On Wednesday, Steve Sarkisian addressed the rumors around his coaching position at No. 17 Texas, confirming that he has no plans to leave anytime soon despite reported interest from other schools.
"I’m not going anywhere," Sarkisian said on Wednesday. "Never do I do this because I never want to be a distraction, so I never address these things. But at this point now, I feel like it is important that I do this because it’s important for our team, it’s important for our university.”
Texas hired Sarkisian in January 2021. He led the Longhorns to the Big 12 championship in 2023.
Last season, Texas made it to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, where it lost to Ohio State.
In the offseason, Sarkisian signed a contract extension at Texas, which will keep him tied to the program through the 2031 season.
