The No.9 Alabama Crimson Tide suffered a disappointing 28-7 loss in the SEC championship game at the hands of the No.3 Georgia Bulldogs. Following Saturday's result, there are questions regarding the team's chances of making this season' 12-team playoffs.

However, despite a three-loss record, Kalen DeBoer and his team are still favored to qualify for the playoffs. This did not sit well with Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy.

In a series of tweets on X, he called out the CFP selection committee for being biased towards Alabama. Portnoy also compared their loss to the BYU Cougars, who lost the Big 12 championship game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

"So remind me. It only counts when BYU gets blown out in the conference title game, but for Bama it doesn't matter cause it's an extra game for them? I think I got it now. Make it make sense," Portnoy said.

"Just remember the crooked committee and crooked ESPN and crooked SEC moved Bama up just so when they got slaughtered and exposed they could keep them in."

Under second-year coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama started the season with a 31-17 loss to the Florida State Seminoles. However, the team went on an impressive eight-game winning streak before losing to Oklahoma last month.

The Crimson Tide headed into the SEC Championship game with a 10-2 record. According to Dave Portnoy, the best solution is to give both DeBoer's team and BYU a spot in the playoffs.

"As I've been saying from Day 1, it's really simple. Both BYU and Bama should be in the playoffs despite both getting crushed today. You shouldn't penalize teams for playing an extra championship game against top 5 teams. You shouldn't reward Miami and ND for not playing."

Kalen DeBoer heaps praise on Georgia for SEC title victory over Alabama

DeBoer started the postgame press conference by praising the way the Georgia Bulldogs played on Saturday.

He complimented coach Kirby Smart while expressing his disappointment with the loss.

"Just got to credit first of all Georgia, what they did today," DeBoer said as per SI. You got two teams, congratulations to them, Coach Smart, but you got two teams out there, know each other pretty well over the last two seasons, what the strengths are.

"Two teams that fight. Two teams that played hard. Got to this point, laid it out on the line. Proud of our guys. ... Fell short today, but proud of the season, getting to an SEC Championship, getting to this spot. A lot of build to it."

Kalen DeBoer also tried to make a case for Alabama being in the playoffs despite the loss to Georgia.

"If this game applies to and takes away from our resume, I don't think that's right. I really don't. I think the precedent's been set, and I don't know how you can go into a conference playoff game when you're number one seed and did all these things throughout the year, playing in this game against one of the top teams in the country as well, how that can hurt and keep you out of the playoff, when again we've done what we've done all year."

Will the selection committee name Alabama as a playoff contender during their final decision on Sunday?
