Lee Corso retired from his analyst role on ESPN's "College GameDay" earlier this season. However, Corso is still making personal picks for this season.
On Monday, Corso chose No. 2 Indiana as the team he believes will win the national championship in January 2026. However, it didn't take long for Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz to respond to Corso's pick, with a bit of banter.
“You sound like an out-of-work comedian,” Holtz said to Corso, according to Daren Stoltzfus of WESH.
Holtz then backed his former team, Notre Dame, to win the national title this season.
The No. 9 Fighting Irish (9-2) could likely make the College Football Playoff with a win over Stanford on Saturday night. Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman led the team to the CFP final last season, but lost to Ohio State.
This time around, Holtz believes the Fighting Irish could go a step further to win the title.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers (11-0, 8-0 Big 10) will finish their regular season against Purdue on Friday.
The College Football Playoff final will be held on Jan. 19, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Lee Corso opens up on retirement from ESPN's College Gameday

Lee Corso doesn't appear to be enjoying his retirement from "College GameDay." When asked about his feelings on not being part of the show, the analyst had a classic response.
“Lousy. I hate it,” Corso told WESH on Monday. “I can’t watch ‘College GameDay.’ I can’t get used to it. I’m not working anymore. I used to fly all over. It sucks.”
Corso, 90, was part of "GameDay" for 32 seasons. However, he is now adjusting to different Saturdays from when he was part of the ESPN show.
