After a jittery start to the 2025 season, head coach Kalen DeBoer is on a ride, leading the Alabama Crimson Tide back to its victory days. A couple of weeks ago, criticisms and hate were mounting over DeBoer's head and football pundits were discussing his buyout clause.
DeBoer made sure he made a comeback, similar to how he performed in Washington and other programs he led. With just one loss, Alabama stands at No. 2 in the SEC leaderboard.
According to college football insider Joel Klatt, it would be Mike Elko and Texas A&M who win the SEC championship this season and not Alabama.
The veteran analyst shared his reasoning behind the projection, claiming that Marcel Reed has been spectacular in leading the offense and that the program has remained undefeated so far. They could go 12-0 and eventually face Alabama in the SEC championship game.
“I really like A&M right now. The way that they’re playing, the rest of their schedule, they’re going to be favored in the rest of their games,” Klatt said on his podcast on Wednesday.

“So, let’s go 12-0 (overall), 8-0 (in SEC play) … against, if you look at their schedule, the way that they’re playing, even though I know they have a couple of flaws and there. So let’s go A&M against Bama, (and) I’m going to go with A&M in that game.
"A&M is 13-0, Ohio State is 13-0, you’ve got Indiana at 12-1 and Alabama at 11-2 as an SEC championship game participant but not the champion,” he added.
Kalen DeBoer has challenging games ahead to wrap up 2025 season
So far, Alabama has performed exceptionally well in both offense and defense, except for the season opener against Florida State. Quarterback Ty Simpson turned out to be an accurate passer ever since and showcased his versatility throughout the weeks.
On Wednesday's teleconference of coaches, DeBoer credited his players for the teamwork and mentioned that they are on the right track. They have a bye week this weekend and in the following week, they play LSU at home.
Oklahoma, Eastern Illinois and Auburn are other opponents for Bama to finally wrap up 2025. They are expected to go unbeaten in the remaining games of the year.
