Carson Beck gets real on Miami’s ranking for 2025 College Football Playoffs ahead of showdown vs. NC State: “Trying to execute each and every day”

Carson Beck's Miami moved up three spots to No. 15 in the College Football Playoff rankings this week. The Hurricanes are the highest-ranked team in the ACC and are in with a great chance to make the playoffs.

On Wednesday, Beck was asked about Miami's new ranking, but the QB was more focused on winning the three remaining regular-season games.

“What’s our spot?” Beck said. “Yeah, sure. I don’t know. Again, I kind of talked about it last week, but all we can do is just continue to win. So, that’s really all we can control, and just trying to execute each and every day, and then ultimately, on Saturday, going out there and put up more points than our opponent.

“So, again, wherever we get ranked is somewhat in our control, somewhat out of our control,” Beck said. “But, again, not our worry as we move on throughout the week and these last three games.”

As things stand, six teams are ahead of Miami (7-2, 3-2 ACC) in the conference standings, including No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Virginia, SMU, No. 22 Pittsburgh, and Duke as one-loss teams in league play.

Moreover, No. 20 Louisville is tied with the Hurricanes, but ahead of them at two losses, with a head-to-head tiebreaker over Beck's team.

Beck is in his final collegiate season before he enters next year's NFL draft. The QB will want to finish on a high and win a championship with Miami.

Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes will face the NC State Wolfpack (5-4, 2-3 ACC) in Week 12 of the 2025 season on Saturday. The matchup will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The Hurricanes suffered a surprise loss to SMU before beating Syracuse on Saturday. With a spot in the College Football Playoff at stake, Miami cannot afford another loss.

Beck has posted 2,194 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. The Miami QB has also rushed for 45 yards and one score on 28 attempts.
