Texas quarterback Arch Manning remained optimistic about Texas' national championship chances despite an embarrassing 29-21 defeat to Florida on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.Manning spoke with the media after the loss. The sophomore signal-caller kept a positive tone about Texas' hopes of competing in the college football playoffs."Absolutely. It's a long season. Anything can happen," Manning said. "We've just got to continue to get better each week and take it one game at a time."Florida's defensive line was all over Manning, who only completed 16 of 29 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns. The Gators sacked the young quarterback six times, forcing him to commit mistakes, which proved costly for the No. 9 Longhorns.Manning's rushing game was also capped, as he could only run for 37 yards in 15 carries. Then Lagway led a 10-play, 64-yard possession that allowed Trey Smack to score on a 34-yard field goal.The Gators amde it 19-7 at the half after the sophomore QB completed a 18-yard TD pass to Dallas Wilson and forced a safety on a blocked punt.Lagway gave Florida an insurmountable 15-point lead in the third when he completed a 55-yard pass to Wilson for a touchdown. Texas reduced the deficit to 29-21 on a Quintrevion Wisner TD run and a Mason Shipley extra point.Lagway passed for 298 yards with two touchdowns and one interception to help Florida coach Billy Napier break a three-game losing skid. Jadan Baugh added a touchdown and rushed for 107 yards.Florida will visit No. 6 Texas A&M (5-0, 2-0 in SEC) on Oct. 11.
