The Arkansas Razorbacks are set to hire Alex Golesh as their new football coach, according to reports on Wednesday. The Razorbacks fired Sam Pittman on Sept. 28, and appear to have found their next permanent coach after going through the rest of the season with Bobby Petrino as interim head coach.
Fans on social media had some wild reactions to reports of Arkansas hiring Golesh.
"No disrespect towards Golesh here, but if this holds true I have a bad feeling this is another rinse repeat of taking an under proven coach and overhyping him to be something that he isn’t. To me he doesn’t seem like the guy we need," one tweeted.
"Thats an odd way to say we're hiring Dan Lanning but whatever," another added.
"We got our (4th) guy!!!!" a third commented.
Here are a few more reactions.
"It’s crazy that he pulled this off without ever interviewing," one wrote.
"Gonna be a lot of disappointment on the hill. Let’s just be fans and not worry about who the coach will be. I will watch every game even if we get Chad Morris back. I just love the sport any sport. GO HOGS," another added.
"They’ve hired everybody this week, impressive," a user tweeted.
Golesh has been coaching the South Florida Bulls since December 2022. On Wednesday, USF CEO of athletics Rob Higgins tweeted that Golesh has received coaching opportunities from other programs.
