How to complete Distortion mission in Black Ops 7 Campaign (Complete walkthrough)

Distortion is the third mission in the Black Ops 7 Campaign. In the first mission, you and your team will be exposed to a toxin while retrieving a drive. In the next mission, you must deliver the drive to Karma for decryption. Afterward, she will ask you to retrieve Guild's biometric data so she can pinpoint the insider. You will find a container, and as you open it, the insider will be barely alive. As you ask for a medivac, you will hear Frank Woods' voice, which triggers a shared hallucination.

This is where the third mission, Distortion, begins. You are trapped in a distorted jungle, and you and your team set out to locate Frank to find the source of the hallucination and end it.

Complete guide for the Distortion mission in Black Ops 7

As you are trapped inside the hallucination, the jungle represents memories from Angola, where Menendez captured Frank Woods and his men inside a shipping container to rot, until Alex Mason comes to rescue them.

Searching for Woods

Search for Woods in the jungle of Angola

Here, you need to proceed forward. The path is linear, so just move ahead. You will then find platforms where you must use your Grapple Hook by pressing the dedicated button. Simply point to where you need to attach the hook and use it to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.

Grapple up the cliffs

You will see a waterfall. You must climb the cliff using your Grappling Hook, so aim at the cliffs and navigate those steep terrains. You will then reach the top part of the waterfall; just follow the stream.

Fight through the jungle to reach Woods

As you proceed, you will find Guild enemies there, so eliminate them. You will encounter different types of enemies. The stronger enemies you need to watch out for are G-R6, Commandos, drones, and D.A.W.G. The rest are standard, normal enemies that you can easily take out.

Keep moving towards your objective, and you will see a boat (barge) barely balanced near a cliff.

Investigate the barge

Now, use your Grappling Hook to reach the boat and head near the container. You will see vines blocking the door. You must now clear the vines to get access to the container.

Follow the vines to their source

There will be two vines. Just follow one: either the right or the left. As you follow the vines, you will encounter a new enemy called the Sentinel; eliminate them and keep following the vines. After that, destroy the source to remove the vines.

Destroy the growths on the vines

Let's say you decide to follow the right vine first. Following it up the far-right cliff, in the northeast direction, you will find a small house. Head inside, and you will see a flower-like element. Shoot it to destroy it, and that vine will die. If you can't pinpoint the flower's location, simply head inside all the houses where the vine goes through, and you will eventually find it.

Now you must do the same for the other vine. Follow it into a similar small house. Head inside, and you will see the flower on the roof. Shoot it, and the other vine will also die, clearing the container.

Clear enemies around the container

Once you have cleared both vines, return to the container. However, reinforcements will appear, so eliminate all enemies present. Once all are eliminated, head near the container and open it.

A cutscene will play where the container is empty, and David Mason tries to sever the connection, which leads to another hallucination inside Frank Woods' memories.

Search and survive the nightmare

Now inside the nightmare, you must navigate the search for Woods. As the gameplay begins, head east and follow the path. After a while, you will encounter a new enemy type called the Unknown Entity, which will run at you and use melee attacks. Maintain distance and shoot them quickly.

You will see a shadow-like character, Frank Woods, being kept hanging by Menendez. Witness this memory, and once done, the right-side section becomes clear. Now, proceed.

Simply follow the path, and afterward, you will come across a section where the path is blocked by vines. As before, follow the vine into a nearby container. Inside, there will be a flower; shoot it to kill the vine. This way, you can get past the area.

Proceed forward, using your Grappling Hook where necessary. Just keep going, and you will again find the barge you saw earlier near the cliff where the container was. But this time, it is floating on the water.

Reveal the Memory

Now, climb up the barge. You will again find Frank Woods' shadow-like character. Head near it and press the interact button to reveal the memory.

Now, just stand on the boat. The water level will slowly increase, lifting the boat. The process will be slow, and in the meantime, you will encounter several enemies, including a new flying enemy that spits toxin. Keep eliminating enemies until you reach the top. Now, face the south direction, and you will see a path blocked by vines.

As before, check for the flowers. There will be three vines, so you must shoot down three flowers. Once done, the path clears out, so proceed.

Proceed, and you will find a floating platform. Use your Grappling Hook to reach it, and you will find a container there. As you interact with it, a cutscene plays where Frank Woods is devoured by The Nightmare.

You must now fight The Nightmare, which is a massive, vine-like monster.

Weaken The Nightmare

To defeat this monster, simply run around it. You will find small, glowing growths on its body. Shooting these will damage the monster. Shooting elsewhere will barely damage it, so keep aiming for the glowing areas.

Also, once a quarter of its health is deducted, it goes into a freezing phase where normal enemies spawn. Eliminate these, and once done, you re-engage with the monster.

Keep damaging it the same way. It will again go into a freezing phase, so follow the same pattern and damage it until it is finally destroyed.

After that, a cutscene plays, and the Distortion mission concludes.
