Luka Doncic and the Lakers hosted his former team, the Mavericks, in Friday's final NBA Cup group game. The five-time All-Star had another massive outing against his ex-teammates, tallying 35 points, five rebounds, 11 assists and one block on 10 of 18 shots, including 4 of 9 from deep and 11 of 11 from the free throw line, leading LA to a 129-119 win.

As expected, the five-time All-Star demanded significant attention from his former teammates on offense. The Mavericks doubled him straight out of the gates, in the Lakers' backcourt in the first possession after tipoff.

Nevertheless, Doncic was unfazed. He was making the right decision on every blitz and finding his teammates to generate clean shots on nearly all possessions. Even with the attention he receieved, Doncic managed to finish the first quarter with double-digit scoring.

He had 10 points, one rebound, three assists, one turnover, two fouls, shooting 4 of 6, including 2 of 3 from the 3-point line in the first 12 minutes. Doncic returned in the second quarter and played seven minutes. He had another efficient run, managing eight points, one rebound and one assist in that stretch.

He finished the first half with 18 points, two rebounds, four assists, two turnovers, and two fouls. Doncic shot 5 of 8, including 2 of 4 from deep and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. He was a plus-minus +3 as LA trailed 62-60.

It was a crucial run from him, considering the Lakers found themselves in trouble early after trailing by seven with 10:37 left.

However, Doncic found his groove and the Lakers regained the lead. He had 30 points, two rebounds, eight assists, three turnovers and four fouls entering the fourth. He shot 10 of 15, including 4 of 8 with a plus-minus of +8, while LA led 98-94.

Doncic and LA did that despite the Mavericks being a top-three defense in the NBA and perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate Anthony Davis' return to the lineup.
