Ja Morant's waning athleticism was on display during Sunday's game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the OKC Thunder. Early in the second quarter, Morant attempted a blockbuster dunk on Thunder's 7-footer Isaiah Hartenstein in transition.

However, he fell well short after taking off from just inside the free throw line. Morant had a decent hangtime, but he was stopped in his tracks by Hartenstein, who timed his jump perfectly and avoided a poster.

Once a walking highlight, some fans felt Morant could have made that dunk during his peak seasons. However, after this botched attempt, they mocked him for his regression as an athlete.

Amid significant trade buzz, one fan took shots at his market value:

Aside from this failed poster attempt, Ja Morant didn't have the most efficient games either. The star guard only had 11 points after missing 15 of his 18 shots. He had the worst plus-minus on the Grizzlies (-23) in a 114-100 loss. They could have won it if not for his shortcomings.

The Grizzlies were up 19 at one point. It was a tie game (99-99) halfway through the fourth. Reigning champion OKC maintained its poise and closed the game with an efficient display in the clutch. Morant went 0-for-3 in the fourth and committed two turnovers.

Ja Morant is not concerned about shooting woes

Ja Morant is not concerned about his shooting woes. The Grizzlies star reacted to his performance on Sunday, saying (via Grizzlies' beat writer Damichael Cole):

"That's why I don't get too frustrated because I be in this arena, I be in the practice gym doing the same thing. Right now it's just continuing to shoot, continuing to shoot with confidence and wait for it to translate over."

Through 10 games, Morant has averaged 19.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 3.6 turnovers, shooting a career low 35.8%, including 14.8% from 3. Memphis 4-6 in his presence and 4-7 overall with a bottom-six offense (110.6 rating).

Despite his jump shooting woes, Morant has settled for 5.4 attempts from deep. The Grizzlies would need him to improve drastically if they are to avoid the play-in tournament for the second consecutive year.
