LeBron James' son, Bronny James, got his first start of the season and second of his career in Saturday's clash between the LA Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks. The second-year guard replaced Marcus Smart, who was ruled out due to illness. The Lakers seemingly started Bronny to guard Milwaukee's smaller players, particularly Ryan Rollins.

He had the first shot attempt for LA, but failed to convert it. Bronny headed to the bench without impacting the box score. He had a plus-minus of +2. Bronny didn't return to play again before halftime. The Lakers led 65-34.

Bronny James fails to make lasting impact in second career start for Lakers

Bronny James failed to capitalize on earning a second start for the Lakers in a high-stakes clash. Bronny had the perfect opportunity to earn a boost in his rotation minutes. However, the second-year guard was a non-factor on offense with the starting unit.

He didn't alleviate the offensive pressure off Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves as an alternative ball handler. When open, Bronny wasn't being as aggressive, often looking for LA's other shooters on the perimeter.

It didn't take long for JJ Redick to identify how that played into the Bucks' defense's advantage as they sagged off Bronny James, impacting LA's offensive fluidity and spacing.

As solid as Bronny has been as a point of attack defensive threat, he needs to impact the game more on offense to have a shot at consistent rotation minutes.
